How can you program a light show? Basically, you need a MIDI editor. Any editor will do its job, even free ones. But maybe it’s easier to choose a software, where you can add your audio pilot to sync the events better. For example Cubase works well.
Before you start, read the manuals of your lighting devices, you want to control. MIDI events are usually mapped 1:1 to DMX events, where the note describes the DMX channel and the velocity of the note the value of the DMX channel multiplied by 2. We’ll add a video tutorial describing this process in more details in the future.
I look forward to this tutorial, particularly if it demonstrates this in Cubase!
Hey there! My cousin and his family are looking for a light show which they can attend while they’re in Texas next month. Speaking of, I never imagine that Midi editors are such an essential component in order to execute decent light shows. Nevertheless, I’m sure they’ll make the right reservation pretty soon so they could enjoy their trip.
